We must pause in our usual financial blogging topics to bring you Palm State Mortgage Company’s good wishes for a great American Holiday, the upcoming Memorial Day. We quote the great song of patriotism from Lee Greenwood in honor of the American men and women who have given up their lives in military service for their country:

“And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.”

The Memorial Day week-end will bring all levels of American society the chance to celebrate life with our families and friends.

However, in between all the fun, family and food, we all know it is really time to remember the heroes who fought for freedom. They made the ultimate sacrifice for our unique way of life in these United States.

“And I’d gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.”

Things To Do For Memorial Day Remembrance:

1. Celebrate A Tradition Of Courage: This is a good week-end to watch a John Wayne movie, if you haven’t seen one lately! (…or even if you have…)

2. Eat the fabulous traditional foods of hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, homemade ice cream, apple pie and perhaps watermelon. mmm-mmm

3. Give your best wishes to someone whose family member or friend has performed the ultimate act of heroism.

4. Honor The Brave Hearts! Why not check your local newspaper or internet and see what ceremonies, parades, or special events are being created by your community? You might be surprised.

5. Decorate A Soldier’s Grave! One thing is certain, every national grave and monument will be ablaze with American flags and flowers of red, white and blue. This Holiday is not quite as big as our July 4th Independence Day, but it is very important to the hearts of many families in the United States. Many of them will be also be displaying flags at their businesses and homes, to honor the fallen heroes.

6. Sing! If you can’t sing, at least listen to some patriotic songs. As you honor our fallen heros, we predict you will feel a stir of ownership in this country, no matter how much property you actually own.

“If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.”

7. Drive Safely! You know this holiday has a reputation of high-way danger. Although we wish you the best of holiday times, we of Palm State Mortgage also caution you to take care on the high-ways, by-ways, and back roads of Orlando, of Florida, and of everywhere, in this Great Land.
