At Palm State Mortgage, we are aware that we soon have a significant holiday for pumpkins, masquerades and Trick or Treating! In many ways, Halloween, with its seasonal shift, is the gateway to all the great Holidays ahead of us in the Fall and Winter. If you have not made your Halloween week plans, we suggest you take a look at this local news station, to see all the amazing activities available in Central Florida. There is fun for every Halloween taste from Mickey’s Not So Spooky Halloween Party to the macabre Halloween Horror Night of Universal Studios. Even Sea World is diving into Halloween fun with its Spooktacular special family events.

Perhaps because security, safety and trust are so important in the mortgage business, we pause our financial news to post a few safety tips for those of you who will be Trick or Treating instead of attending parties or special events.

1. The Candy Game: Although we have heard that candy tampering is an urban myth, we still believe that parents should check over the goody bags of treats. We also like the healthy suggestion of having the kids help divide their loot into little bags for future snacks. This discourages the temptation of candy binges.

2. Avoid The Monsters: 164493753Visit only the houses with Halloween lights and decorations in areas you know. Make sure your kids know not to enter someone’s house. Trick or Treat is a porch activity!

3. Trick-or-treat only in neighborhoods you know. Stay in well-lit areas, and avoid shortcuts through alleys, and parking lots. Walking offsets the unhealthy aspects of party foods! If you drive, watch out for little monsters and fairy princesses on the prowl. Also watch for big zombies that might be behind the wheels of their party vehicles.

4. Even older children should have a curfew, and carry their phones for checking in.

5. Don’t tempt the sugar zombies! A good tip to prevent your kids from overloading on candy is to serve them a very filling meal before they go out for their trick or treating. Parents can help their healthy cause by making them their favorite dinner before they go on their candy hunt.
